The rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Master Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Mr. Víctor Bisonó Haza, began construction work on a new water purification and bottling plant on university grounds, during an emotional ceremony held in the dining room of the state academy.
The origin of this project is due to the establishment of a strategic association between the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) and the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).
Minister Bisonó highlighted the importance of this strategic alliance between the two entities and stressed that the installation of this plant is not an isolated event, but is part of a broad inter-institutional cooperation agreement that reflects the shared commitment to sustainable development and the welfare of the nation.
Bisonó also emphasized the achievements made as a result of this agreement, including support for the entrepreneurial development of MSMEs, exemplified by the financing granted to the Centro Mipymes UASD Mao.
He also highlighted the construction of the bakery at the headquarters of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, which has provided a new training space for the students of the university, especially for those in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration.
Regarding the water processing and purification plant, Minister Bisonó affirmed that it will not only provide high quality purified water for the university community, but will also contribute to the academic and technical training of the students by giving them the opportunity to participate in real projects that have a direct impact on people’s lives.
Finally, the head of the MICM expressed his gratitude to the rector of the UASD, Master Editrudis Beltrán, for his unconditional support and collaboration, and reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes to continue working together with the UASD to develop new initiatives and projects that promote innovation, entrepreneurship and quality in all sectors of interest of the MICM.
On the other hand, the rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Editrudis Beltrán said that the initiative, which will have an initial contribution of 15 million pesos from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM), “aims to cover the needs of water consumption in the different administrative, teaching and student areas, as well as to meet the demand of external consumers, a scenario that would favor an increase in the income of the UASD”.
In this regard, the professor highlighted the importance of collaboration and strategic alliances for the realization of large projects.
“The shared will allows the construction of large projects, which can only materialize through cooperation and strategic alliances,” he said.
Among the advantages mentioned are the optimization of expenses in the acquisition of bottles and bottles of water, greater efficiency in the supply and dispatch of water, and the creation of a distilled water processing unit to supply the Medicine and Science laboratories.
The quality of the liquid produced in this plant will be guaranteed by Nordom regulations and the supervision of the Dominican Institute for Quality (Indocal), under the direction of the Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology of the Faculty of Sciences of the UASD, directed by Dr. Modesto Cruz Lluberes.
Recently, the UASD and the MICM, through the “University plus Industry” program, inaugurated the University Bakery School. This project aims to meet the needs of students, who consume between 15,000 and 20,000 loaves of bread per week.
