Antony Blinken U.S. Secretary of State applauded the Dominican Republic for its fight against corruption by setting standards before other countries.
“We are very grateful for the leadership that the Dominican Republic continues to demonstrate, for example, in the fight against corruption, which really sets a standard for many countries,” Blinken said when he held a meeting with Roberto Alvarez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, in Washington, capital of the United States.
The Secretary of State said that finding “lasting solutions to the challenges facing the Haitian people” was the objective of their dialogue as well as the work that both nations can do to help find solutions for that country.
In addition to the issue of Haiti and corruption, during the conversation between Alvarez and Blinken they emphasized the economic recovery that the country has had post pandemic, thanks to the administration of President Abinader.
Through its Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the meeting of the Dominican foreign minister with his US counterpart “we are strengthening bilateral relations and exchange with our main trading partner”.
