Work begins on roads in Las Terrenas, Samaná

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, began work on the reconstruction of road infrastructure in Las Terrenas, at a cost of more than 48 million pesos, with the objective of continuing to strengthen this tourist destination in the northeast of the country.

Minister Collado said that the work will have a great impact on the tourist development of Las Terrenas and the entire destination.

“Today we return here to Las Terrenas to begin work on this road as part of our effort to continue strengthening tourism in this beautiful province of Samaná,” said Minister Collado.

The project consists of the reconstruction of 6 road axes with a total of 2.90 kilometers in length, of variable width; divided into four zones within the municipality of Las Terrenas, in the area of Abra Grande, the beach, the center and the town of Los Pescadores.

Within the scope of the project are: recovery of the road structure, placement of asphalt wearing course, construction of 900 square meters of sidewalk, 1,200 linear meters of concrete curbs, 4,000 linear meters of ditches for the proper flow of water, as well as the creation of a storm drainage system and signage, to ensure the durability of the road to be built.

The work, which will be coordinated by the Executing Committee for Tourist Zone Infrastructure (CEIZTUR), will have a total cost of DR$48,283,610.20, and includes the following streets.

The work on Loma de Francois Street consists of the creation of a new axis connecting Emilio Prud’Homme Street and Salomé Ureña Street, with a length of 230.00 linear meters and a width of 5.00 meters.

Meanwhile, in the entrance street Abra Grande will be reconstructed an axis connector between 27 de Febrero, main road of the area, with Emilio Prud’Homme street with a length of 245.00 linear meters and a width of 6.00 meters.

Other roads that will be intervened are: Hispaniola Street, which includes three main roads, one main and two additional roads, as well as Italia Street, also comprised of three roads, and Colibrí, La Ñeca, Coson Viejo and Antonio el Español streets.

The project includes the construction of curbs and sidewalks, storm drainage system, road cleaning, asphalt concrete placement and road signage (horizontal and vertical).
