Cruise Tourism DR generates more than 135 MM dollars

The government revealed on Wednesday that cruise tourism generates more than 135 million dollars a year and provides about four thousand direct jobs.

In this sense, President Luis Abinader assured that the country is projected as a safe and attractive destination for cruise tourism since so far this year more than 450,000 cruise passengers have visited the Dominican Republic.

Abinader headed this Wednesday the launching ceremony of the country as host of the annual conference of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association where Minister David Collado highlighted the importance of this sector for the generation of jobs.

The 2022 edition of the conference will be attended by more than 60 cruise executives, government leaders, as well as some 500 representatives from various parts of the world.

The conclave provides the forum to develop mutual understanding and relationships to improve the cruise tourism business among the participants.

This 28th version of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) conference will be the ideal platform for the country to showcase the products and services it offers to the cruise industry, which has registered sustained growth in the Dominican Republic.

During the month of May 2022, 82,199 cruise passengers arrived in the Dominican Republic on 10 cruise lines, carrying out 32 operations, of which 19 were cruise ships and 13 were ferries.

Meanwhile, from July 2021 to May 2022, an accumulated 754,760 cruise passengers were registered, on 51 cruise lines, with 458 operations.
