The Dominican Republic announced Tuesday that its tobacco exports reached a record $1.236 billion in 2021, a year-on-year growth of 32% and 30% compared to 2020 and 2019, respectively.
This “unprecedented” growth came mainly from exports of cigars and cigarillos cigars, which went from US$787 million in 2020 to US$1.047 billion last year, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs reported.
