DR presented in Spain as an “ideal” business destination

The Dominican Republic exported products worth US$100 million (€92.3 million) to Spain, an increase of 22% over the previous year and 57% over 2020.

The Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) has presented in Madrid the investment and export opportunities in the Dominican Republic in a meeting with Spanish entrepreneurs from multiple sectors, in which it has highlighted that the island country is an “ideal” destination for doing business due to the climate of political and economic stability and its continued growth.

The meeting was headed by the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro; the president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic in Spain, Juan Luis Cebrián, and the country’s ambassador to Spain, Juan Bolívar Díaz.

The director of ProDominicana said during the meeting that its objective is to showcase the “diversified offer” that the Dominican Republic has, as well as the characteristics and economic conditions of the country that make it “the main destination in the Caribbean” to carry out investment projects.

“Thanks to the substantial improvement in competitiveness and development of the country, the Dominican Republic is taking steps to attract projects in various economic sectors such as industry, tourism, energy and telecommunications,” said Riveiro.ProDominicana Meeting

For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Juan Luis Cebrián, highlighted the “solid” commercial relations between the two countries and his desire to “continue promoting them”.

Important flow of imports and investments

Attending to the behavior of trade relations between Spain and the Dominican Republic, in the period between 2015 and 2022, the Dominican Republic’s trade exchange with Spain was approximately US$6,133 million (€5,655 million), with 2022 being the year with the highest flow of imports and investment exchange.

The Dominican Republic exported products worth US$100 million (€92.3 million) to Spain, an increase of 22% over the previous year and 57% over 2020.

Likewise, in the last eleven years, Spanish investments in the Dominican Republic have risen to 2,117 million dollars (1,955 million euros), making it the leading European country in this area.
