ProDominicana highlights contributions to economic growth in 2020-2024

During the 2020-2024 administration, the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana) has established itself as a leading institution in the promotion of exports and foreign direct investment in the country. Under the direction of Biviana Riveiro, the entity has implemented a series of initiatives that have transformed the economic and commercial landscape of the Dominican Republic.

Among the most important milestones of this period is the change of name to ProDominicana, which reflects the institution’s renewed focus on the integral promotion of the country as a business destination. Also noteworthy are the National Plan for the Promotion of Exports (PNFE) 2020-2030 and the ProDominicana Trade Promotion Plan, which have laid the foundations for sustainable and diversified growth in the export sector.

“Thanks to these initiatives, we have reached a total of USD 45,804.3 million in exports during the last four years, provided 2,145 technical advisories to potential exporting companies and supported 100 companies that managed to export for the first time during this period,” said Biviana Riveiro, executive director of ProDominicana.

Riveiro also highlighted that ProDominicana has been a pioneer in promoting gender equity in international trade through the National Meeting of Women in Export, which has held four successful editions. The incorporation of the SheTrades Hub and Outlook tool has marked a milestone in the history of gender trade in the country. In addition, the Women’s Survey and the Exporters’ Catalog have provided essential tools for the economic empowerment of women in the export sector.

Improving investment services and strengthening the digital ecosystem have been key priorities, with the introduction of innovative platforms such as ProInteligencia, Data Market, and FDI Alerts.

These tools have facilitated access to critical information and boosted the competitiveness of Dominican companies in the global marketplace. In addition, an Investment Guide was launched in 10 languages, which has strengthened the country’s capacity to attract foreign investment.

Another important milestone during the administration has been the achievement of USD 4,000 million in foreign direct investment, positioning the Dominican Republic as a leader in investment flows in the region. ProDominicana has accompanied investors throughout the entire process, providing advice through the Investment Guide and organizing more than 240 international trade promotion activities, taking Dominican products to more than 50 countries. Locally, the institution has supported national fairs such as Hub Cámara 2022 and Agroalimentaria 2023.

“We are proud of our achievements during these four years. Our mission has been to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as a key player in international trade, and these milestones are testimony to the hard work and dedication of our team. We thank all our partners and collaborators for their unwavering support,” said Riveiro.

ProDominicana has been recognized internationally at events such as the AIM Awards 2023 in Abu Dhabi and other prestigious global forums. The creation of ProDominicana TV and Estudio ProDominicana has allowed for greater dissemination of institutional initiatives.

ProDominicana also experienced a significant expansion of its national network, with 17 provincial offices by 2024, which reinforces its institutional presence in various parts of the country. This effort not only increased ProDominicana’s presence, but also symbolizes a commitment to regional economic development and productivity, reaffirming the entity’s regional leadership.

In recognition of outstanding contributions during this year, ProDominicana will present 15 awards to companies and personalities that have been fundamental to the institution’s success: Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (Mepyd), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo, Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD), Development and Export Bank (Bandexe), Banreservas, Caribbean Export, DP World, INICIA, Fersand, La Aurora, Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo), Association of Foreign Investment Companies (Asiex), Evaristo Pérez Carrión and Ligia Bonetti.

ProDominicana remains committed to promoting the Dominican Republic as a top investment and export destination, boosting the country’s economic growth and competitiveness on the international stage.
