UNDP recognizes 17 business initiatives in sustainable development

In a hybrid event, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) together with the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), recognized 17 Dominican business initiatives out of a total of 45 participants on the road to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fight against climate change, which were included in a Catalog of Promising Practices 2021.

Parque Solar Girasol, from EGE-Haina; Hazte Eco, from Banco Popular Dominicano; Nuvi, Acerh, from BHD-Leon; BR- Accesible, from Banco Reservas; Gerdau Metaldom, Microseguros, from Grupo Universal; Ron Barceló, Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Consorcio CAEI and Grupo Universal are among the companies recognized by the United Nations.

In addition, for the first time the catalog recognized the work of two MSMEs, HHO Eco Series and Sostenibilidad 3RS, which make important efforts for environmental sustainability.

During the event, Pedro Brache, president of Conep); Inka Mattila, UNDP resident representative in the Dominican Republic, and César Dargam, vice president of Conep, who referred to the fact that at this moment of socioeconomic recovery of Covid-19 it is time to change course and take the sustainable path, highlighting the commitment of the business sector.
