The Dominican Association of Hotels and Tourism, ASONAHORES, announced the twenty-first edition of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange, DATE, to be held May 11-13, at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center, Punta Cana, reported Travel2Latam.
This event, which has been held for the past 21 years, is the main platform for business exchanges between travel agents, international tour operators and the main suppliers of the country’s tourism sector.
Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of ASONAHORES, explained that this new edition of DATE will bring together in person the industry’s main issuing markets with the hotel sector and the local complementary offer, strengthening confidence in the Dominican tourism product, increasing the flow of tourists, and continuing to contribute to the national economic recovery.
“DATE 2022 is part of ASONAHORES’ strategy to continue contributing to the growth of tourism activity, facilitate expansion and investment opportunities in the sector according to the agreements and businesses established at FITUR 2022, where members of the institution met to promote the country as a destination, as well as the merits recognized by the highest world tourism authorities in the recovery of our industry and the implementation of hygiene and safety protocols since the effort made together with the Ministry of Tourism against covid-19,” said Blanco Tejera.
Meanwhile, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, executive vice president of ASONAHORES, informed that DATE 2022 will feature an innovative system of pre-established appointments, which will save time by creating an automatic agenda between buyers and suppliers, in the exercise of developing business for the coming seasons.
“In this new edition, events will be held in order to promote all the cultural and gastronomic attractions of the country, including: Exhibition of paintings, handicrafts, musical groups and artistic groups,” expressed Marranzini Grullón.
Adding the importance of the celebration of this event as the largest fair for the promotion of the tourism industry in the country and the Caribbean, he affirmed that they are certain that the agreements to be established will be decisive to exceed the number of tourists visiting the country in the short term.
He also informed that the “DATE Awards” will be held in recognition of the outstanding companies in the tourism sector for their commitment and contribution to the growth of the industry in the areas of: Airline, Online Travel Agency (OTA), Inbound Tour Operator-DMC and International Tour Operator.
During the fair, more than 150 buyers from the main outbound markets and international press representatives will be in contact with the different segments and the great diversity of attractions offered by the Dominican tourism product.
