The fair also put on display the works of more than 80 artists and artisans of the region.
With the support of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and the Foundation for the Progress of the South (FUNPROSUR), the third version of the Southern Cultural and Gastronomic Festival was held with the objective of continuing to develop ecotourism, culture and gastronomy in the southern region of the country.
With the slogan “Towards the cultural, gastronomic and ecotourism development of the region”, the fair was held in the square of the central park of Las Matas de Farfán, in the province of San Juan, from July 29 to 31, with the municipality of El Cercado as guest.
The president of Funprosur, Alexander Valenzuela, stressed that the fair has become a tradition throughout the southern region, considering that the same records a precedent of a before and after, in terms of contributions to art, culture, customs, traditions and gastronomy.
“We are going to continue promoting cultural development, which has long been impacted by other external values; further developing cultural tourism and religious tourism, promoting and highlighting what we show, so that things continue to change,” Valenzuela said.
He said that this fair is not merely a party, but a work based on three axes, as an alternative way for the development of the people, in favor of culture, gastronomy and ecotourism in the southern region, especially in the Valley.
The activities included artistic, cultural and folkloric manifestations, as well as conferences, workshops, agricultural exhibitions and the sale of everything related to the culture and gastronomy of the southern region.
It is worth mentioning that the fair exhibited the works of more than 80 plastic artists and artisans of the region.
