Xterra tourism event returns to the Dominican Republic

Lovers of sports tourism are delighted today with the announcement of the return of the Xterra Pan American Tour event to the Dominican Republic next September.

Nearly 200 athletes from 11 nations will gather on September 4 and 5 in Las Terrenas, Samaná, one of the most beautiful destinations in this half of the island, to compete in the tournament, now in its fifth edition.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the program of this event includes trail races in distances of 5, 10 and 21 kilometers, as well as a cross-country triathlon that includes 1500 meters of swimming in open water, 15 kilometers of mountain biking and 10 kilometers of running.

The organizers of the competition announced that for this edition the presence of elite athletes has been confirmed, such as the U.S. athletes Brad Zoller, Elliot Bach, Tom Eickelberg and Humberto Rivera; the representative of Costa Rica, Rom Akerson; of Mexico, Paco Serrano; and for Ecuador, Ismael Vega, among the men.

Among the women, the Chilean Valentina Carvallo and Brandi Swicegood from the United States stand out.

Xterra carries out 100 triathlon and running races in more than 30 countries, as a way of promoting world-class tourism, sports and adventure destinations.
