XXV edition of Expoturismo concludes in Santiago

For three days Expoturismo sold out a broad agenda that included presentations of routes and destinations, vacation offers, artistic exhibitions, trainings, talks, raffles, among others.

With a significant increase in the number of exhibitors, more than 180 travel agencies and tour operators, as well as an influx of visitors, the 25th version of the most important vacation marathon in the northern region, Expoturismo 2022, which was held from June 3 to 5 at the Hodelpa Gran Almirante in Santiago de Los Caballeros, concluded this Sunday.

Ramón Paulino, president of the entity said that this year the registration of participants increased by 50% compared to last year, even representing a new record of stands during these 25 years, which consolidates the tangible recovery of tourism, not only in the Cibao region, but throughout the country, he added.

Yomaris Gómez, director of the fair, emotionally expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Tourism David Collado, the mayor of Santiago Abel Martínez, authorities and personalities who attended, as well as the support received from the public and each company that was part of this new delivery.

Gómez said she was very proud to be celebrating its silver anniversary and to see how Expoturismo continues to be the favorite promotional and sales space for many Dominicans, who come every year to purchase their vacation packages.

The new edition of the Expo was attended by David Collado, Minister of Tourism, who received a plaque of recognition from the directors of the event and the Santiago Destino Turístico cluster, for his efficient management at the head of the institution and for the achievement of the strategies established for the reestablishment of the sector at the national level.

During his speech, the official proposed the elaboration of a tourism development plan and guaranteed the contribution of 50 million pesos to promote Santiago abroad.

He indicated that “having concentrated on the recovery of our sun and beach tourism through Punta Cana, where 50% of all foreigners that the country receives arrive, now we have to take care of the essence, of the beautiful, our culture, our people and all that the Heart City and all the Cibao has”.

Anthony Durán, general manager of Prinair Tours, described the fair as a success, highlighting the enthusiasm of all those responsible for the resumption of tourism and describing as positive the recognition given to the Minister of Tourism by the board of Expoturismo and his hopeful promise to turn Santiago into a “great tourist destination”.

In the same aspect, Jessenia Rodríguez, manager of the Marina del Mar hotel in Montecristi, described as great the new edition of Expoturismo, and took the opportunity to extend her invitation to “La Joya del Noroeste” which will soon open its pier, which is intended to add to the list of the main attractions of the province.

For three days, the expo brought together various representatives, politicians and businessmen from different sectors of the country, especially tourism, and sold out a broad agenda that included presentations of routes and destinations, vacation offers, artistic exhibitions, training, talks, raffles, among others.
