Air Century reopens flight routes to Cabo Rojo

Carlos Jiménez, executive vice president of Air Century, informed that domestic flights from the Dr. Joaquín Balaguer International Airport (La Isabela), in Santo Domingo, to the Cabo Rojo aerodrome in Pedernales have been discontinued for a year.

Despite this, the executive said that the airline is contemplating the possibility of reopening the commercial route, although he added that this is a project “to be explored” for next year.

Air Century Cabo Rojo“The commitment assumed by our company to carry out those operations culminated on June 30, 2023,” he said.

The initial agreement was for 60 hours, with an addendum of 30 additional hours. “The agreements were being fulfilled in the times that had been agreed upon, and we found it necessary to discontinue operations,” he said.

He specified that the agreements made between the company and the Fideicomiso Pro-Pedernales were closed based on “milestones” or hours flown, according to Diario Libre.

It is recalled that the operations were opened in October 2022 at a cost of US$50 each way, operating twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) and lasted only seven months.

The transfers were carried out in an aircraft with capacity for 19 passengers and each trip would last 35 minutes.
