Arajet expects to land in the U.S. in the first half of 2025

Arajet is ready to connect Santo Domingo with the United States, however, in real terms, the first flight could take place in the first six months of next year 2025.

Manuel Luna, in charge of public relations for the company, attributed the delay of the expected landing in the United States to preparations for the entry into force of the Bilateral Air Transport Agreement between the country and Washington, signed in the presence of Luis Abinader in early August.

“The open skies treaty still has to go through its process of being sent to the Constitutional Court, for it to approve it and pass it to Congress and for Congress to approve it as well. After these steps are completed, the Dominican government sends the corresponding diplomatic notes to the United States and the treaty enters into force,” he explained.

He indicated that once these points are completed, the airline expects the U.S. Department of Transportation to respond to the applications to operate the first routes to the North American country.

“There is no estimated timeframe for this, but Arajet is prepared to start its flights to the United States as soon as possible. But realistically the scenario paints that the first flight would be somewhere in the first half of 2025,” he concluded, according to a statement.
