Avianca to open link between Punta Cana and Quito, Ecuador

The Minister of Tourism of Ecuador, Niels Olsen, informed that Avianca will launch new routes from Ecuador and will reinforce frequencies on other existing routes.

The new routes to be operated as of October are:

  • Guayaquil (GYE) – Buenos Aires (EZE): three weekly flights.
  • Guayaquil – San José de Costa Rica (SJO): three weekly flights.
  • Quito (UIO) – Punta Cana (PUJ): three weekly flights.

“Congratulations Avianca for the increase of new routes and frequencies to Argentina and Costa Rica from Guayaquil and to Punta Cana from Quito!”, the official said through his account on the social network X.

On the other hand, starting in December Avianca will add three weekly flights between Guayaquil and Medellín (MDE) and between Guayaquil and Cartagena (CTG).

The official’s announcement comes a week after Avianca confirmed an increase in frequency on the route between San José and Buenos Aires with a stopover in Quito, from four to seven weekly flights.

At the time of this publication the routes are not yet listed for marketing on Avianca’s website, so it is not possible to know the exact date of the inaugural flights or schedules.
