MITUR receives JetBlue travelers for 178th anniversary of National Independence Day

As part of the large number of tourists and absent Dominicans arriving to commemorate the National Independence festivities, close to a thousand travelers received a warm welcome to the rhythm of merengue and carnival upon their arrival at Las Americas International Airport (AILA).

The passengers arrived on Jet Blue airline flights from Puerto Rico and the United States on Sunday, 27 February as part of the commemoration of the 178th anniversary of National Independence.

The reception is part of the alliance formed by the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and JetBlue Airlines, the company that leads the number of flights arriving in Dominican territory during 2021, mainly from the United States.

They arrived on JetBlue flights from John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York; Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL); Orlando (MCO) and Luis Muñoz Marín in Puerto Rico (SJU), where over 900 visitors were received, including non-resident Dominicans and foreigners.

The activity, which was enlivened by the Ballet Folklorico and the typical ensemble of the tourism institution, was attended by Esperanza Paula, Jet Blue’s General Manager in the country and authorities of the airport terminal and MITUR.

As is customary, February of each year is the time when thousands of foreigners and Dominicans take advantage of the commemorative and carnival dates to vacation and visit the attractions of Santo Domingo and other tourist centers of the country.
