Arajet announced a significant expansion plan from Punta Cana International Airport, requesting nineteen new international routes. This strategy seeks to expand its network of destinations and strengthen its presence in the international market.
The airline, which currently has its main base at Las Americas International Airport (AILA) in Santo Domingo, operates a fleet of ten Boeing 737-8 MAX, each with capacity for approximately 186 passengers in single class.
The requested routes include major cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as destinations in North America. The proposed flights will connect Punta Cana with Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Montreal, Toronto, Santiago de Chile, Bogota, Cartagena, San Jose, Guayaquil, Quito, El Salvador, Guatemala, Kingston, Mexico City (AIFA), Cancun, Curacao, St. Maarten and Lima.
The expansion will not only facilitate tourist access to Punta Cana, but will also boost tourism and trade in the region by offering direct and convenient connections to a wide range of destinations.
Arajet’s ambitious plan underscores its commitment to providing affordable, quality flights, significantly expanding its network of destinations and improving connectivity from Punta Cana, according to Aviation Club Center.
The diversification of routes will not only benefit passengers, but will also position Punta Cana as a key hub in the region. Full details of the routes and schedules are available in the attached document issued by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
