Chinese Embassy delivers “solidarity donation” to Hospital Ney Arias Lora

The Dr. Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital received this Monday a “solidarity donation” from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the country.

The money, the amount of which was not disclosed, will be destined to the expansion and equipment project of the physical medicine and rehabilitation service.

According to a press release from the diplomatic legation, the donation was made after a request from the Dominican-Chinese Friendship parliamentary group, headed by Congresswoman Betty Geronimo, who explained the importance of this service provided by the health care center, which is why she saw the need for its expansion.

“The Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital provides an invaluable service to the population in general, in that aspect this type of contribution will contribute to its strengthening as an institution and aid entity”, said Gerónimo.

Gerónimo thanked the action of the ambassador for the People’s Republic of China, Zhang Run, and highlighted the support received by the embassy in all the projects that have been arranged by the aforementioned parliamentary group.

The document indicates that Deputy Julio Brito, president of the Permanent Commission of Foreign Relations of the Lower House, expressed his satisfaction for the donation made by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. It says that he also highlighted the interest of the Dominican Republic in the strengthening of the bilateral relations with this Asian country, for which he said he is ready to maintain communication with the Chinese representatives in the country.

“In the same terms, Dr. Julio Landrón, director of the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Dominican-Chinese Friendship parliamentary group, headed by Congresswoman Betty Gerónimo, whom he described as a legislator who has been immensely concerned about managing projects in favor of the health care center,” the press release said.

In Landrón’s opinion, this kind of donation makes them more committed every day to work in favor of the most needy and all those who need trauma care.

The Chinese ambassador Zhang Run highly valued the work done by the Chamber of Deputies to strengthen the friendship between the Dominican Republic and the People’s Republic of China.

The diplomat also appreciated the role played by the Dr. Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital in saving lives and healing the injured and sick, stating that both China and the Dominican Republic always put the people and life first.
