Electrophysiology team of Moderno- MCA, introduced for the first time in the Dominican Republic the use of intracardiac echocardiography.
The Electrophysiology team of Moderno- MCA, Cardiovascular Unit (MODERMCA) headed by Dr. Eliany Mejia introduced for the first time in our country the use of intracardiac Echocardiogram, which was used in conjunction with a three-dimensional map, unique in its class in the country – Precision and catheters of last generation with contact and irrigated sensors.
The acquisition and use of this equipment for the first time in our country marks a new era in Dominican Electrophysiology, where we put ourselves on par with international centers, allowing us to perform larger procedures with the same standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
Our MODERMCA team was also the first to perform the first cardiac ablation without radiation and continues to innovate and modernize Electrophysiology in the Dominican Republic.

Our Electrophysiology team is formed by Dr. Eliany Mejia Lopez Mejia, MD FACC FHRS who is a cardiologist and interventional electrophysiologist, trained at Montefiore Medical Center New York and the University of Virginia, USA. She is certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography and Interventional Electrophysiology. Active member of the American College of Cardiology, AHA and Heart Rhythm Society and Dr. Laiden Suarez, Interventional Electrophysiologist trained at Queen’s University Kingston General Hospital – Ontario, Canada. Active member of the European Heart Rhythm Society, Latin American Heart Rhythm Society and AHA.
The MODERMCA team is composed of a group of highly experienced and prepared Interventional Cardiologists, led by the well-known Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Pedro Ureña, who are committed to creating a reference center in the region with state-of-the-art invasive Cardiology and quality.
