Plan to prevent teenage pregnancies to be relaunched

The Ministry of Public Health, the National Health Service, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) announced the II International Forum on Comprehensive Adolescent Health, on the occasion of the National Day for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy.

This forum, which will be held in person and virtually on September 28, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, will include presentations by national and international experts in the field of adolescent health and the participation of health and children’s authorities, as well as high-level officials from the United Nations System and adolescents.

As explained by the Ministry in a press release, during the event PLANEAPP will be relaunched, the virtual educational platform for adolescents that provides information and guidance on integral health, sexual and reproductive health, as well as geolocation of health services.

Topics to be addressed during the forum include the situation of adolescent pregnancy in the Dominican Republic, psychosocial consequences of post-COVID-19 in adolescents, the response of the National Health System in dealing with post-COVID adolescents, technical regulations on Comprehensive Health Care for Adolescents, child and adolescent protection policy, among others.

The National Day for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy is commemorated in the Dominican Republic in compliance with Law 295-11.
