Three cardiology residents from the Center for Diagnostic and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (Cedimat) were recognized with first place in an international competition organized by the American College of Cardiology, tying with Argentina.
In addition to the team of residents, a research submitted by members of the team led by physician Edisson Feliz was awarded as best paper and they will be participating in person at the next scientific session of the American College of Cardiology next April 2022 in Washington DC.
Regarding the research, the director of the Cedimat Cardiovascular Center, César Herrera, said that it is an original application of predictive algorithms for therapies against decompensated heart failure, “useful in the management of this complex condition”.
For resident doctor Federico Campos, who participated along with his colleagues Pamela Piña Santana and Jenniffer Mateo Soto, he is more than proud to represent the country, the medical center where he works and his fellow residents.
Dr. Mateo also said that it is very satisfying to be able to win a competition like this for the second time.
The competition, which in its beginnings was only for resident doctors from the United States, was extended to other countries. This time, along with the Dominican Republic, doctors from Peru, Costa Rica, Argentina, El Salvador and Panama participated in the Latin American edition.
