The president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), Pedro Brache, affirmed that the results exhibited by the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic are a sign of the “extraordinary” work carried out by Minister David Collado in that institution and that the strategy put in place to recover the sector is working.
The president of the organization that brings together most of the private companies in the Dominican Republic and whose mission is to lead the strengthening of the free enterprise system, actively participating as an agent of change and transformation in the consolidation of democracy and its institutions, to promote the economic and social development of the Dominican nation, congratulated the Tourism Cabinet for the strategy put in place to recover that sector of the economy.
“As we have said before, we see that the rebound of tourism continues, I believe that a great job has been done, our minister together with the private sector have made a strategy that is working,” said Pedro Brache.
According to official figures about 800,000 people depend on the tourism sector in our country, and represents 15% of our GDP, provides 899,000 jobs directly and 750 million dollars in foreign exchange that maintain the exchange stability.
Brache said that it is no coincidence that in December the country reached the largest numbers in the history of tourism, exceeding 728 thousand tourists received and that evolution continues.
“Although we have had some points such as tourists coming from Russia and Ukraine, we know that due to the war issue they have decreased, but those have been replaced by other tourists such as Canada, and I believe that the work being done in the tourism sector is really extraordinary”, said Pedro Brache, when interviewed by Moisés González of the program and newspaper Despertar Nacional, which is broadcast on Sundays on Biztv, channels 45 and 45 of Claro and Youtube.
