The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, was chosen by the portal Nuestras Instituciones Públicas (Our Public Institutions) as the Public Official of the Month for April. This is the second time that Collado receives this distinction since in February 2021 he also achieved the same.
The Central Unit of Tourism Procedures is a digital platform that connects the State institutions involved in the approval processes of projects and licenses in the sector, reducing time, minimizing procedures, and providing the user with a supervisory control over all its processes.
In April, the president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), Pedro Brache, affirmed that the results shown by the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic are an example of the “extraordinary” work carried out by Minister David Collado in that institution and that the strategy implemented to recover the sector is working.
The president of the organization that brings together most of the private companies in the Dominican Republic and whose mission is to lead the strengthening of the free enterprise system, actively participating as an agent of change and transformation in the consolidation of democracy and its institutions, to promote the economic and social development of the Dominican nation, congratulated the Tourism Cabinet for the strategy put in place to recover this sector of the economy.
Last month, Tourism Minister David Collado also visited the province of El Seibo to announce that the long-awaited bullring will be completed.
“On behalf of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, I am here to announce that this plaza is going to be done and that the Government is going to deliver. The President told me to visit El Seibo today to make this announcement and here we are,” said Collado.
The official asked the engineer of the work to carry out an audit of the construction to clean up “the roads and thus have clear accounts”, since he does not get involved in anything that is not transparent.
The Ministry of Tourism, with resources from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), launched an international public bidding for the rehabilitation works of the public spaces of the streets prioritized in the framework of the Integral Program for the Tourist and Urban Development of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo (PIDTUCCSD).
This tender represents a comprehensive recovery of some 4,700 meters of street sections, at an estimated cost of US$24 million. This intervention is projected to last 30 months, starting at the end of this year.
Last month, thanks to the intermediation of the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the Dominican Confederation of Tourist Taxi Drivers (CODOTATUR) and associations affiliated with this entity reached an agreement that allows tourist cab operators, from these associations in the Bávaro Punta Cana area, to register on the platform as driver partners in the new option within the app called Uber Select.
The agreement is a response to the commitment agreed with the government in November last year on the matter.
Finally, the director general of Ethics and Government Integrity (DIGEIG), Milagros Ortiz Bosch, praised the management of David Collado as Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic by highlighting the works that have been built attached to transparency.
The head of the governing body in matters of ethics, transparency, open government, fight against corruption, conflict of interest and free access to information in the governmental administrative sphere described Collado’s work as exceptional, indicating that he is part of a new generation of young people who work to make the Dominican Republic a better place every day.
In that order, he said that in Tourism, David Collado has exhibited efficiency, modernity and the desire “to put all of us together to change the destiny of the Dominican Republic, to move away from all the inadequate management of public funds to do the right thing”, he said.
It is recalled that the Nuestras Instituciones Públicas (Our Public Institutions) portal presents this award every month, after a consultation carried out by the company Dominicana Investiga where experts are consulted to guarantee that each awarding of the public official of the month is the fairest decision.
The portal is part of the Digital Media Corporation ECAP, which contains digital media covering the topics of politics, national life, economy, art, among other topics of interest.
