Manny Cruz, new Unicef ambassador in the Dominican Republic

Dominican singer Manny Cruz was named national Goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) on Tuesday.

Since 2014, Cruz “has demonstrated his interest in working for children and promoting children’s rights as a friend of Unicef, accompanying the international agency in countless initiatives and communication campaigns raising their sentiment in favor of children (…),” said the agency in a statement.

With his appointment, Manny Cruz joins communicator Jatnna Tavárez, appointed to the position 10 years ago, and whose agreement was ratified this Tuesday in a ceremony held at a hotel in Santo Domingo which was headed by the Unicef representative in the country, Rosa Elcarte.

The Unicef national ambassadors are outstanding people in the fields of art, science, literature, entertainment, sports, as well as other areas of public life “who have expressed their desire to contribute and raise awareness about children”, the note added.
