Asonahores Vice President says hotel occupancy rate is 75%

The executive vice president of the Dominican Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores), Andrés Marranzini, explained that the Dominican hotel sector closed 2022 with a national occupancy rate above 75% on average.

“It is a very good occupancy. During all the months we received more tourists than we did pre-pandemic,” saidVicepresidente de Asonahores Marranzini in statements to Efe.

Before the pandemic, “we were close to 70%, but never in the figures we experienced in 2022,” he added.

In December we even surpassed 700,000 visitors, a figure that constitutes “a milestone”, with an average of 400,000 travelers per month in 2022.

This growth in DR tourism last year places the country as the spearhead of the recovery of the tourism industry in the Caribbean region.
