Holiday Inn in AILA awaits environmental permit

As soon as the pending environmental permit is received, perhaps in 60 to 90 days, construction may begin on the first hotel integrated to the Las Americas International Airport (AILA), a project announced for November 2022.

This is the Holiday Inn Santo Domingo Airport, a hotel to be built with an investment of US$24 million, the start of which has been delayed due to the wait for the aforementioned permit. In the meantime, the perimeter closure of the site is being finalized for the upcoming works.

The hotel will offer 154 rooms, arranged on four levels, in some 9,000 square meters of construction.

Holiday InnAeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), the company that manages the AILA, said the hotel will offer “hospitality services of the highest quality.”

“It will be just a few meters from the airport terminal, that is, it will be within walking distance. The hotel will have a bar and restaurants, terraces, coworking space, gym, swimming pool, business center, flexible meeting rooms, as well as parking”, the company detailed.

Aerodom reiterated that the developer is TVP Management RD, together with the companies under consortium Constructora Sofisa, S.A. and Constructora ICI Internacional. The design is by Taller de Arquitectura Orbitarq and the law firm Estrella & Tupete.

When the project was announced, it was indicated that the rooms will have two views: towards the air terminal and towards the Caribbean Sea. Its promoters understand that it will also attract business travelers, as it will have spaces for business meetings and training programs, among others.

The hotel will have the capacity to accommodate transit passengers and crews, so its promoters understand that this will encourage more local and international airlines to establish their hubs in the country.
