Grupo Poma expands in SD: will build Courtyard by Marriott

Grupo Poma will start construction of the Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo hotel on August 18 in an activity that will be headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, according to arecoa.com.

The new hotel project is the third of the group in the country, which has bet on investing in the Dominican Republic, adding to its portfolio a new lodging property in addition to the Real Intercontinental hotel and the Quality Hotel Real Aeropuerto Santo Domingo.

The Courtyard Real by Marriott Santo Domingo will be located on Porfirio Herrera Street, corner Freddy Prestol Castillo, Piantini sector, Distrito Nacional, sharing the area where the Real Intercontinental is located, so the group will strengthen its presence in the business center of the Dominican capital.

Fernando Poma, executive director of Real Hotels and Resorts, as well as the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, among other personalities linked to the tourism sector, will attend the ceremony of the formal start of construction of the lodging center.

The Salvadoran business group, which is a conglomerate with investments in the real estate, hotel, industrial and car distribution sectors that extends throughout Central America, the Dominican Republic and Colombia, is investing some US$75 million in the new project, which will be next to the Roble Corporate Center building.

Grupo Poma is currently comprised of Excel Automotriz (automotive distributor), Grupo Roble (real estate and real estate developer), Real Hotels & Resorts (its hotel arm with presence in Central America, the Dominican Republic and Colombia), Autofácil (its automotive financing business) and Grupo Solaire (an architectural solutions company).
