The opening of new hotel projects in the country will allow to increase and complement the tourist offer within the destination.
With the addition of 130 hotel rooms, including eight rooftop suites, the Kimpton Las Mercedes Hotel, located in the Colonial City, aims to offer a historic, colorful, cultural and sustainable experience to its guests.
This year, the Dominican hotel sector expects to open more than 3,000 new hotel rooms. Marta Amengual, general manager of the Kimpton Hotel, said that this is the brand’s first property in the Dominican Republic and is being operated under the Iberostar Group.
The hotel opened its doors on June 26, 2024, thus reinforcing the offer in the summer season.
He indicated that the property has four event rooms and restaurants, which provide a unique stay to the guest, as each one has a different concept. He also pointed out that the hotel has parking, 24-hour room service and pets are allowed.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, 758,719 non-resident foreigners arrived in the country by air in June, representing 7% more than the same month in 2023.
