Secrets hotel and Cana Rock resort inaugurated

President Luis Abinader yesterday led the inauguration of the Secrets Tides Hotel, built with an investment of US$190 million in Uvero Alto; he also inaugurated the 305-unit Cana Rock apartment complex, built with an investment of US$68.2 million in Arena Gorda Macao and visited the Consorcio Energético Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM), in La Altagracia province.

The first event attended by the President was the inauguration of the luxurious 668-room Secrets Tides Punta Cana Resort & Spa hotel for adults, which is expected to generate 2,435 jobs.

Daniel Hernández, vice-president of Operations for the Dominican Republic and Colombia of Hyatt Inclusive Collection, said that the inauguration of this property further strengthens the presence of this chain in the country and its rapid growth in the region.

Businessman Álvaro Peña, owner of Secrets Tides Punta Cana, emphasized that what has been achieved is the result of hard work, accumulated experience and coherence in the relationship for the creative effort of the public and private sectors in the Dominican Republic.

Cana Rock Apartments

Later, President Abinader led the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the Cana Rock Star II real estate tourist complex of 305 apartments built with an investment of US$68.2 million, of a total of 2,558 units to be built by 2028.

David Collado, Minister of Tourism reiterated that this inauguration reflects the confidence in the tourism sector in the administration of President Abinader that “with a pandemic and then with a war, the Dominican Republic dared to open its doors in a responsible manner, which generated new investments to continue projecting the country with pride and dignity”.

Evagrio Sánchez, president and CEO of Cana Rock Group, said that Cana Rock has seven projects. He said that two years ago they delivered Cana Rock Star phase I and yesterday the second phase of Cana Rock Star and that in the next four years they will continue with the other five properties for a total of 2,558 apartments in that area.

He explained that the two phases are Cana Rock Condos with 171 units and Cana Rock Star I with 165 apartment units.

In CEPM

President Abinader then visited the facilities of the Consorcio Energético Punta Cana – Macao (CEPM) which he toured together with the main executives of this private company.

He was given a presentation of the functionalities of the Quatro Systems; he also rode an electric bus and toured the generator-complete plant; he also toured the Evergo Connect zone and the electro-lane.

CEPM, which has an available installed capacity of more than 335 MW, generates, transmits, distributes and commercializes energy in the tourist area of Punta Cana, Bávaro, Verón, Macao, Uvero Alto, Miches, Bayahíbe and La Romana.

During his tour of the plant, the president was accompanied by the founder of Grupo Punta, Frank Rainieri; the hotel businessman and CEO of Grupo Puntacana, Frank Elías Rainieri; the senior executive vice-president of National and International Businesses of Banco Popular Dominicano, René Grullón.

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, participated and presented the progress made by the Dominican Republic in the tourism sector, as did the senator for the province of La Altagracia, Virgilio Cedano and the provincial governor, Martina Pepén.
