The singer Akon, who is in the Dominican Republic recording with several artists of the Creole urban genre, said that the country is too “small” for the street merenguero Antonio Peter de la Rosa ‘Omega’.

“The only difference between Omega and me is that I was able to leave my country. But Omega is stuck here in the DR. The Dominican Republic is too small for Omega that’s why he feels trapped in every corner because he is to be above anything,” said Akon.
He adds that as long as Omega is “trapped” in the country he will not be able to exploit his “potential” as an artist. “Ever since I met him I knew he is a superstar, and as I got closer to him I realized that he is trapped in his own environment.”
He explained that it is the “needs”, as an artist, that he lacks that have prevented the “Strong One” from further growth outside the country.
“That’s the only difference between the DR and Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans have more opportunities because they are inside the United States, but believe me, if the DR had the same resources as Puerto Rico, it would be a different story,” said the Senegalese.
In another aspect, the music mogul mentioned that he would like to create in the Dominican Republic the futuristic “Akon City” in the Wankada style, which will take place in his country Senegal, and that he is a third of the way to raise the sum of 6 billion dollars for its construction.
“That would be a next step after we blow up Akon City,” the music producer responded to Peluche about the idea of doing the construction in the Caribbean country.
Akon, who said he is in love with the Republic, also said that when he visits the nation he always visits one of his favorite places: Puerto Plata.
