Karol G ventures into merengue with “Si antes te hubiera conocido”.

The artist traveled a few weeks ago to the DR to shoot the video clip for her new song.

The Colombian artist ventured into merengue with her new song “Si antes te hubiera conocido”, the same song she filmed the video clip of weeks ago in San Pedro de Macoris.

La Bichota premiered the song today, which is already proclaimed as the “hit” of the summer and is a collaboration with Coca Cola, and yesterday she performed it live for the first time in the second concert she had in London.

“What would have been if I had met you before, surely you would be dancing with me and not as friends, but as something else,” says part of the chorus of the song that at the time of publishing this note had almost 150 thousand views on YouTube with only 30 minutes on the platform.

With this song, Karol G joins artists such as Bad Bunny, Becky G, Maluma, Rosalía, Manuel Turizo, among others who are seduced by the native rhythm of the Dominican Republic.

“Si antes te hubiera conocido” talks about a person she wants to be with, but can’t because he has a girlfriend and wonders what would have become of them if they had met before he got engaged to someone else.

The video clip recorded, in what appears to be a grocery store, has images of the Miramar sector in San Pedro de Macoris and involves Dominican people, in addition to the Colombian influencer Inesita, 88 years old, famous for her tutorials of various food preparations, which have as a secret ingredient her ‘aliños’ (seasonings).

The multi-award-winning artist confessed her love for this country with a post on Instagram, where she talked about her most recent song and revealed that she recorded part of her album “Mañana será bonito” in the Dominican Republic.

“DR It is a country to which I owe a lot… part of Mañana Será Bonito I worked there, when I need to disconnect from the world and connect with myself I also go there,” wrote Karol.

She added: “Its culture, its music, its colors, the hospitality, the energy… everything feels very authentic and special there… Its people have embraced me in a way that fills my Cora and inspires me all the time.”
