Puerto Rican urban artist Ozuna released Thursday his new single and music video, “Señor Juez”, together with renowned Dominican singer Anthony Santos, in which they highlight the essence, passion and feeling that distinguish Dominican bachata.
“I am more than happy and grateful to Anthony Santos, a master of bachata who has influenced and inspired many artists,” said Ozuna in a statement published by EFE. “This is undoubtedly one of the most important collaborations of my career, as it represents part of the musical roots with which I grew up,” added Ozuna, known as “El negrito de los ojos claros”.
Santos, for his part, highlighted in the text that an urban artist of Ozuna’s dimension decided to record a bachata.
“This is a true reflection of an artist who is aware of what the world is consuming and undoubtedly supports the genre, the country and bachateros so that our music continues to consolidate as our country brand,” he said.
As detailed in the press release, “Señor Juez” describes a story of pain and guilt when losing a love that will not return, which unleashes an intense exchange of grievances between the two performers.
The music video was filmed in the Dominican Republic under the direction of Fernando Lugo, and inspired by the lyrics of the song to create a plot in which Ozuna appears in a courtroom to be accountable before the “Señor Juez” (Anthony Santos).
Ozuna, winner of two Latin Grammys, hopes to add more in this year’s edition, where he has two nominations.
Two generations
“El Mayimbe de la Bachata,” as Anthony Santos is called by fans, used his social networks to define this collaboration as “a beautiful story interpreted by two generations united by a single feeling.” “Available to the world, through global cyberspace for the enjoyment of all(a). Honored to share this musical gem with a star that shines with its own light,” added the veteran singer in the message posted on his official Instagram account.
The music video has been very well received
Ozuna thanked Anthony Santos for believing in him and this great project. “Long live Dominican, Puerto Rican and Latin culture”, said the so-called “Negrito de los ojos claros” on his Instagram account.
The video clip of this song, directed by Fernando Lugo, has had a great reception, so much so that within a day of its release it already reached two million views on YouTube.
A few days ago, the urban singer also revealed a collaboration with the street merenguero Omega “El Fuerte”, entitled “Llegó la para”.
