ASHONORTE and ADN Films seek with this agreement to unify efforts to capitalize on the global impact of bachata, which has become the most visible element of Dominican cultural identity in the world.
The Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Enterprises of the North (ASHONORTE) and ADN Films signed an agreement that formalizes a strategic alliance to turn Puerto Plata into a world epicenter of bachata. Promote it as a film destination and innovate with the tourism of music festivals to consolidate the development of sustainable tourism in the province.
With this agreement, efforts will be unified to capitalize on the global impact of bachata, which has become the most visible element of Dominican cultural identity in the world, thanks to hundreds of schools, workshops, Dj instructors and singers.
Likewise, bachata festivals in cities around the world such as: Paris Bachata Festival, Shanghai Bachata Festival; I Love Bachata Mexico, Brazil Bachata Festival; Bachata Day (Italy), Europe Bachata Festival (Spain); Los Angeles Bachata Festival, Chicago Bachata Festival; San Francisco Bachata Festival, Istanbul Bachata Festival, among others.
The signing of the agreement was headed by Victor Minaya, general director of ADN Films, Carlos Rodoli, president of ASHONORTE, who was accompanied at the head table by Martin Duquela, regional director of the northern zone of the Ministry of Tourism, Alejandro Castillo, general director of the Hotel Senator Puerto Plata, and Zeus Puertas, general director of the Hotel Senator Puerto Plata, Zeus Puertas, general director of the Playa Bachata Senator Hotel, José Ramón Balbuena, representative of Mayor Diómedes García, Kathy Morillo, executive director ASHONORTE, the most famous bachata dancers Ataca & La Alemana, Rudi López, president of Island Touch and the dancer Bianca Derival.
The president of Ashonorte, Carlos Rodoli, said that the institution’s commitment is to support, drive and promote high-impact initiatives for the tourism sector. “Like the one we are carrying out today, embracing our cultural identity, which is generating millions of dollars and euros, activating tourism and the economy in distant cities that often do not speak our language, as in the case of
Moscow, Paris, Shanghai, Brazil”.
He also added that, “Puerto Plata is the pioneer of tourism in the Dominican Republic and with this agreement we will be the pioneers in music festival tourism and in using bachata as a tool to promote the country”.
ADN Films president Víctor Minaya said that, “When the script for the film project “Marca País ADB Bachata” was written in 2018, Puerto Plata was incorporated in the shooting of the final part of the film in the amphitheater, recreating a world achata festival, and who would have thought that four years later we would be announcing that Puerto Plata will have in November the first world bachata festival, not as a film, but as a reality.”
“We are confident that with these two projects and other complementary initiatives bachata will place the demarcation of Puerto Plata on the world map”.

During the event, Rudi López, dancer, DJ and president of Island Touch, one of the main companies organizing bachata events at an international level, allied with ADN Films to promote bachata as a country brand, also spoke. Lopez will coordinate with the international bachata dancers in both events.
The event counted as special guests with the participation of the world’s most famous and sought after bachata dancers “Ataca & la Alemana”, who will join forces to turn Puerto Plata into the world epicenter of the popular rhythm.
Ataca, is from Humacao, Puerto Rico and Alemana is from Wurzburg, Germany, who have more than half a billion views on their social networks, to the rhythm of bachata. They have participated in major dance events around the world in America, Europe and Asia.
