Dominican Republic becomes a member of New World LaCrosse

Dominican Republic Lacrosse became the 67th member of World Lacrosse.

Following a vote by current World Lacrosse members, the National Organization has been formally welcomed at the world level, which has recommended approval of the resolution by the World Lagrosse Board of Directors and Development Committee.

This is the 18th member from the United States since Panama earlier this year.

Shania Rohrich, president of LaCrosse Dominican Republic, described the organization as “an opportunity” and said she could “give all the children in the Dominican Republic the same excitement I had when I started playing at age 8.”

Rohrich added: “One can’t wait for one day to be represented in the Dominican Republic and compete at the highest levels of the game.

“It’s a long way to go, but we are ready for the challenge.”

World LaCrosse is a member of the Global Association of International Sports Associations.

Rick Mercury, president of the World LaCrosse Development Group, said the International Federation was “very excited to welcome the Dominican Republic as the 67th member of World LaCrosse” and looked forward to seeing the continued progress and development of LaCrosse in the Dominican Republic.”

Lacrosse is in the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
