Gold Cross donates ambulances to Dominican Republic

To improve medical care on the island

Gold Cross Ambulance, from Utah, donated two ambulances to Word of Life Ministries to improve medical care to the people of Dominican Republic.

The ambulances will be used as mobile medical clinics providing basic health care. On some trips some 300 patients will be seen on a single day. According to Kenneth Balootje of Word of Life Ministry, many health problems will now be prevented with basic medical treatment, especially among children. With these two ambulances we can go to places that do not have any medical centers and give treatment to those most in need, said Balootje.

The two decommissioned ambulances, a 1995 & 1997 Ford 350 trucks were tuned up and given new tires by Gold Cross to make the cross-country trip to Florida where the charity will then ship them to the Caribbean.

Kenneth and Valerie Balootje founded the Word of Life Dominican Mission to bring love and hope to the people of the Dominican Republic. After immersing himself and his family in their culture and environment, Kenneth felt a calling to make a difference by providing a place of training, healthcare and worship for the needy in the Dominican Republic.

Gold Cross Ambulance is pleased to donate these ambulances to help the people of the Dominican Republic, said the President of Gold Cross Ambulance, Mike Moffitt.

We are certain these units will be suitable to improve the medial services and patient transportation needs of this island community. This will be the 33rd and 34th ambulance Gold Cross has donated to third world countries.
