Cruise - Ship - V9US$ 40.0 million investment at San-Souci Port.

Shipping Companies Association (ANRD) president Teddy Heinsen on Sunday hailed the country’s current conditions to effectively compete in the cruise tourism industry.

He cited the investment of over US$40.0 million in infrastructure at San-Souci Port, RD$500.0 million of which he said will be used to dredge the Ozama river.

Heinsen welcomed the shipping local companies’ efforts to develop important coastal areas which are currently depressed, such as Puerto Plata’s Maimon bay, where a leading cruise company pledged to invest more than US$65.0 million in dicks, shops , hotels and other facilities.

The ANRD President spoke during the announcement of the event Impact of security and port management on Dominican trade: New state vision, hosted by the Shipping Companies Association, the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom) and the Specialized Port Security Corps (CESEP).
