Three projects for Dominican Republic’s 3rd biggest ecotourism region

President Danilo Medina announced the government’s support to develop three tourism projects

SAN JOSÉ DE LAS MATAS, Dominican Republic – President Danilo Medina on Sunday announced the government’s support to develop three tourism projects of San José de las Matas, including one centered around a hydroelectric complex for eco-tours.

After Jarabacoa and Constanza, San Jose de las Matas is considered Dominican Republic’s third most important ecotourism region.

He said another will be a resort centered on hot springs located between the towns of Los Montones and Las Placetas and the third will be the springs at the village of Las Ventanas.

Medina, who met with business and community leaders of San José de las Matas, said the works, together with other actions the Government plans for the area, will benefit producers and the community with new jobs, income and a boost for production.

North-South highway in record time

He said the Cibao-Sur highway will contribute to develop the area, for which a call for tenders will start in the coming days. He six different companies will build it in six stages by, so that we can finish it in record time, because we already have the funds.

He said the work is being designed and once the there’s a winning tender offer, its construction won’t be halted.
