To improve transparency in public institutions
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is investing more than US $30 million in support and development projects across the Dominican Republic this year. Areas of work include the fight against corruption and transparency in public institutions.
Yesterday USAID formalized a cooperation agreement with the World Bank to complement the work that both organizations carry out in the country to improve governance and institutional strengthening.
The agreement was signed by USAID interim director James Watson and World Bank representative in the DR Roby Senderowitsch at the Franklin Center.
This agreement involves increasing the actions we implement in the framework of the Participative Anti-Corruption Initiative (IPAC) and creating more opportunities for helping the Dominican government
, said Senderowitsch.
He said that this initiative highlights the institutional weaknesses that the institutions themselves have identified. In this way, according to Senderowitsch, these institutions are reiterating their commitment to the fight against these problems.
