New economic and political vision of women” conference held

The School of Communication of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and Women Economic Forum-Caribbean (WEF) held last Thursday, July 22, the Conference “New economic and political vision of women” with the senator of the District, Faride Raful and the journalist and host of the programs “La cosa como es” and “El Día” Edith Febles.

Edith Febles told her experience about the barriers that women have to overcome in the labor spheres: ”I am concerned that the entities do not make their spaces possible, so that women can work with equality”.

That rape and harassment of women should not be a topic of debate, a real and serious commitment”, reflected Edith to the audience of students, teachers and guests of the congress who were present.

Faride Raful emphasized her experiences as a legislator and education in an unequal system that lacks democratic education from schools and universities, to better understand the workings of politics, but even more to provide spaces for women, she said.

Both professionals agreed that the participation of women is a crucial piece to turn society into a balanced entity, which allows the development of different areas such as economy, culture and politics.

Dr. Ana Bélgica Güichardo, director of the School of Communication of the PUCMM, thanked the speakers and guests on behalf of the university, and highlighted the importance of working in collaboration with the Women Economic Forum Caribbeans and Pizzolante, to promote reflections that allow dialogue between different sectors of society to benefit the country and the region.

In addition to the government’s involvement, Jhohanna Salgado, the director of the WEF-Caribbean, announced the integration of the PUCMM as an academic partner in the Dominican Republic, along with the participation of the director of its School of Communication, and thus transcends the programming of the agenda that includes panels, lectures and interviews on leadership, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, sustainability, science, technology and innovation, by prominent high-level figures.
