Punta Cana has declared itself ready to host the sixth version of the Norceca Continental Beach Volleyball Circuit to be held in Los Corales from September 30 to October 2.
Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona in the east of the country, the good work and prompt intervention of the authorities of the municipality of Veron with its mayor Ramon Ramirez and other government authorities, 18 countries and 32 teams will compete for the top title in the event organized by the Dominican Foundation of Sports Tourism and Marketing Sport EVENT, chaired by Amos Anglada.
“There is great enthusiasm, we have worked with time and it is glimpsed that we will have a great event, we went to the area to determine the future of the tournament thinking that we were going to have to suspend it, which obviously would have been traumatic because the registered teams already have their flight itineraries a month ago, but we were able to verify that everything is ready for the start of the competition that will help the teams to get points to qualify for the next Central American and Caribbean Games and Pan American Games of Chile 2023,” said Anglada, also technical vice-president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation (Fedovoli) and director of the National Beach Volleyball program.
He highlighted the integration of the Veron business community in the early recovery of the zone, to the extent of guaranteeing that all the conditions are in place for the 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams to be able to play without any setbacks. He also valued the support of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects of the East (Asoleste), presided by Ernesto Veloz.
On his side, Veloz, who is also the president of the Organizing Committee of the classic, saluted the support of the local authorities so that the event could be a reality, since it serves to invigorate the economy and tourism of that area.
“The great effort made by the local authorities to repair the damages caused by Fiona, have been of great help for this tournament to take place”, said the head of Asoleste about the joust that has the support of the hotel Impressive Resorts and Spa.
So far among the confirmed countries are: Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Aruba, Curacao, Suriname, Dominican Republic, among others.
The Fact
The Punta Cana beach volleyball classic, which has the endorsement of the Norceca Volleyball Confederation and Fedovoli, is being held since 2015 in the Punta Cana area bringing together the most connoted beach volleyball couples of the North, Central American and Caribbean zone.
