Abinader bids farewell to the Queens of the Caribbean before leaving for Italy

President Luis Abinader bid farewell to the Dominican volleyball players known as the Queens of the Caribbean before leaving for Italy to represent the Dominican Republic in the League of Nations.

Abinader said he was proud of the performance of the athletes and assured them that what they do represents a lot for the country.

Priscila Rivera thanked the president for his support on behalf of the Dominican volleyball team. Along with her teammate Betania de la Cruz, Rivera gave the head of state a framed jersey with the number one and the surname Abinader engraved on it.

The director of the Dominican Republic Women’s Volleyball Program, Cristóbal Marte, highlighted that three of the women present in the hall were ranked among the top 10 volleyball players in the world, and that this team is a five-time Central American and Caribbean champion, two-time Pan American champion and two-time continental champion.

The ceremony was held in the Ambassadors Hall of the National Palace, and was also attended by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, and the First Lady, Raquel Arbaje.
