NBA player will play for the first time under Néstor García’s orders; describes him as a cheerful man.
Chris Duarte is preparing to suit up for the second time with the national basketball team and is clear about the task at hand.
“Our goal is to make history,” Duarte said in reference to the Pre-Olympic Championship in which the Dominican squad is seeking a single available ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”
“The team has a lot of talent and that is why I am more than happy to put on this uniform and play for my country. We are going to give our best,” added the player.
Duarte played for the first time with the tricolor squad official matches, in November 2022, when he played two matches of the qualifying window for the 2023 World Cup against Venezuela, in Santo Domingo and in Barquisimeto, in the State of Lara in Venezuela.
At that time the head coach was Melvin Lopez and the team split honors with the Venezuelan team, both games won by the home team.
The player from Puerto Plata is for the first time under the orders of Argentine coach Néstor (Ché) García and in just two exhausted sessions in the mini-camp, Duarte has already noticed García’s main letter of introduction as an individual and professional.
“Ché is a man who brings a lot of joy,” he said. “He is a cheerful man, who from the moment he sees you the first thing he does is give you a hug and give you a big smile.”
Duarte assured that these two days of training in the minicamp organized by the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) have helped them to adapt to the system and to achieve a better physical condition.
