COD supports agreement between baseball federations of Venezuela and Dominican Republic

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) announced its full support for the rapprochement between the baseball federations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Dominican Republic in favor of the sport.

Antonio Acosta, head of the COD, assured that he will support the alliance between both organizations because it will promote the sport of baseball, while adding that it represents unity within the international Olympic movement.

“We support the agreement between both federations because this is synonymous with union and fair play. The Olympic charter sends us to sow values in sports, so you can count on us in this agreement,” said Acosta during a visit this Monday morning by the president of the Venezuelan Baseball Federation, Aracelis León, who was accompanied by Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation.

The agreement is for both baseball institutions to join efforts in order to develop the talent of the two Caribbean countries.

León, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration of the COD. He also stated that the vision of the leaders will enhance the quality of baseball in both nations in a significant way.

“The idea of our project is to strengthen the weaknesses of our young people in baseball. I am grateful for the support they have given me in your country,” said Leon, speaking at the meeting, which lasted just over 20 minutes.

León also spoke about the talent shown by Dominicans in their international events, as well as in the professional leagues in which they participate.

Acosta was accompanied at the meeting by the secretary general of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Gilberto García.
