Cuba gets its first victory at the Women’s 2021 Pan American Volleyball Cup for Women
Cuba’s national team has earned its first victory at the 2021 Pan American Women’s Volleyball Cup after a 1-3 win over Puerto Rico in a round-robin phase match played on Friday in the Puerto Rican city of Santo Domingo (USA).
“The girls loosened up a little more and things went much better,” said Joel Olazabal, coach of the Caribbean country, at the end of the match, in which the 14 points scored by Dayana Martinez were key.
Both teams will meet again this Saturday in a match in which the fifth and sixth places of the competition will be disputed. On Sunday, the final will be played by the winners of USA-Mexico and Dominican Republic-Canada.
