“The Dominican Republic has it all”, or at least that’s what it says in the advertising spot the country uses abroad to refer to its beautiful beaches, marvelous mountains, rivers and paradisiacal landscapes. Thanks to this, the country is the preferred tourist destination for millions of people in the Caribbean, according to official figures provided by the corresponding authorities.
The most recent world-renowned athlete to make an appearance in the country is Valtteri Botas, a Formula 1 racer for the Alpha Romeo team and former teammate of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has been visiting the Dominican beaches, according to multiple reports, in Rio San Juan, located in the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez.
The automobile racing athlete is in the country with fellow athlete and partner, Tiffany Cromwell, and together with her they have published multiple images of the paradisiacal beaches of the Caribbean country.
This reality does not escape other great athletes who also, from time to time, want to escape from daily responsibilities and rest or spend quality time with their families. That was the case of Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi, who nearly two years ago vacationed in Punta Cana.
Messi, like Bottas now, joined an important list of athletes who have visited the Dominican Republic, especially for vacation.
Michael Jordan is a frequent visitor to the Dominican Republic and on more than one occasion has been captured on video in the Punta Cana area, either relaxing, signing autographs for fans, playing golf or going fishing, an activity that the former basketball player seems to enjoy.
Other NBA stars have also been in the country to spend their vacations, as is the case of Dwayne Wade, who arrived in the Caribbean in 2018 or Shaquille O’Neal, who has repeatedly said he wants to have a house in the Dominican Republic and was the protagonist of a funny photo in which he held in his arms a former president of the Dominican Republic and finally, Karl Malone, has been a frequent visitor to the country, even entering into business related to the world of tobacco.
Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is another athlete who was seduced by the Dominican beaches. In 2019, the Mercedes driver was visiting the eastern tourist area and shared a photo while sipping a piña colada.
The world’s number one racket, Novak Djokovic, as well as Rafael Nadal, have been visiting the Dominican Republic for sightseeing. The former made a family trip to visit multiple places in the Caribbean territory, while the latter has properties and is even the promotional figure of a complex of houses in La Romana.
From the world of wrestling, legendary figures such as Ric Flair and current ones such as Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks have strolled along Dominican beaches during their vacations in the middle of breaks in their activities with WWE.
