Dominican Republic calls up 12 players for 2023 World Cup qualifiers

Dominican coach Melvyn López announced on Monday the 12 players who will make up the national basketball team that will compete on November 28 and 29 in the First Qualifying Window of the Americas with a view to the 2023 World Cup.

The selected players are Eloy Vargas, Gelvis Solano, Mike Torres, Andres Feliz, captain Victor Liz, Gerardo Suero, Adonys Henriquez, Brandone Francis, Sadiel Rojas, Juan Guerrero, Jonathan Araujo and Jeromy Rodriguez.

The Dominican Republic team is part of group C of the continental qualifiers along with the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and Bahamas.

Training will begin this Wednesday in the Dominican capital, explained López in a press release, in which he praised the quality of his players.

On Sunday 28, the Bahamas and Canada will face each other, and the Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic, who will play again a day later, with an away game and a home game at the Palacio de los Deportes in Santo Domingo.

The basketball World Cup will be played in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines and the Americas have seven places available for the competition.
