The national triathlon preselection will travel this Thursday to Puerto Rico to participate in the Super Fast TRI-FPT invitational, which will be held this coming Sunday at the Albergue Olimpico training center in the community of Salinas.
The delegation that will be traveling to the “Island of Enchantment” is composed of athletes Karel Alexa Bodden, Camila Romero Taveras, Sebastian Bastardo and Alexis Vazquez, as well as coach Alfonso Gonzalez Comendador, and delegate Kelvin de la Cruz.
The presence of the preselection is due to an invitation made by Lyda Rivera, president of the Puerto Rican Triathlon Federation (FPT) to her counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Franklin de la Cruz, president of Fedotri, as well as other nations that will be competing and carrying out various activities in that location.
The participation of these athletes in Puerto Rico is part of the preparation of the pre-selection team for the Pan American Youth Games in Cali, Colombia this year.
These four athletes have exhausted a training base in La Ciénaga, Barahona, as well as in different activities for time-taking carried out, both in this southern location of the country, as well as in El Cortecito beach in the Verón community of Bávaro, Punta Cana.
“This is our first international preparation event for our athletes so far this year,” said Gonzalez Comendador.
After their participation on Puerto Rican soil, the pre-selection will be traveling to El Salvador on May 13, where they will exhaust a training base, as well as the participation in the National Triathlon Championship of that Central American nation.
They will also compete in the National Championship of Guatemala on the 30th of next month.
“This will allow us to develop joint training with the national teams of El Salvador and Guatemala in their respective championships with a view to the Pan American Youth Games in Cali this year,” said Gonzalez.
