DR beats Canadian women’s volleyball team three sets to zero

The “Queens of the Caribbean” defeated the Canadian team by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-20. With the victory, the Dominicans remain as the second undefeated team in the Pan American Cup, joining the United States, the team against which they will close the tournament.

The Dominican offense was once again led by Gaila Gonzalez, who scored 12 points. Jineiry Martínez contributed another nine units and Yonkaira Peña scored seven points. For the Canadian team, the most outstanding attackers were Hillary Howe and Melissa Langegger, each with ten points.

The Dominican Republic has rotated its young players throughout the tournament, allowing the veterans to take more rest than in previous tournaments. However, on this occasion, coach Marcos Kwiek held nothing back and went straight to his best combinations from the start, taking advantage of the fact that the squads they have played so far have not been the strongest for each country.
