The Instituto Superior de Estudios Especializados en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades Dr. Luis Heredia Bonetti (IES-LHB) and the Dominican Federation of Electronic Sports (FDDE), signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement, which marks a milestone for electronic sports or Esports in the Dominican Republic.
The agreement between both institutions was signed by the president of the FDDE, Mr. Yaqui Núñez-del Risco Mejía, and the rector of the IES-LHB, Mr. Anton Tejeda; being the fundamental objective of this alliance to establish academic training programs and professionalization of e-sports. The Esports Qualification Diploma will be endorsed and recognized by the FDDE and certified by the international education and training institution Pearson – Qualifications, an entity empowered to grant internationally recognized academic certifications in more than 300 different lines of training.
Yaqui Núñez-del Risco Mejía, affirms that the agreement will mark a before and after in the history of Esports in our region because it will improve the aspects of academic training and professionalization of e-sports with programs recognized in all parts of the world. These programs go to the entire pyramid of those who make up the Esport ecosystem in our country, a sector in which more than 5 million Dominicans interact.
“We are focused on the development of the educational sector in young people. The IES-LHB seeks to be an innovative entity in education and provide educational and productive ecosystems where students are encouraged to participate, values are fostered and thus acquire the necessary skills that will allow them to obtain employment immediately,” said Anton Tejeda.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. Mockbul Ali, who served as Witness of Honor; the Technical Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Sports, Mr. Elvys Duarte; and Congressman Orlando Jorge Villegas.
