The Dominican Sailing Federation, with the endorsement of the International Formula Kite Association, will hold for the first time in the Dominican Republic an international Formula Kite event.
It will be held in Cabarete, a place that has all the natural conditions of sea and wind that this sport requires, being its waters perfect for the aquatic activity.
The tournament will take place from August 16 to 22 and more than 20 competitors from Brazil, Colombia, France, Guadeloupe, Italy, Holland, Slovenia, Turkey, the United States and the Dominican Republic will participate. The athletes will be fighting to reach the first places in this sailing discipline that will make its debut in the 2024 Olympic Games.
The directors of the Dominican Sailing Federation are very happy to be able to bring to Dominican waters an international scoring event of this sport and give the opportunity to other athletes and companies to be motivated to support this discipline.
“The Dominican Republic enjoys privileged conditions for the sport of sailing, warm weather, good wind and numerous beaches where it can be practiced all year round. We have already demonstrated that we have the local talent to exploit this having obtained Central American Medals, Pan American Medals, World Titles, Medals in Youth Olympic Games, Participation in Olympic Games and now we are focused on obtaining medal in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this event is a big step and we need all the support to achieve this goal.” Added Raul Aguayo vice president of the Federation.
The Regatta will take place in the area of the Villa Taina Hotel, from August 16 to 22 and has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Hotal Villa Taina, NODO, DOMICEN, Industrias Aguayo, Viva, HALKA, FDV, Caribwind, Agua Gerico and Waterfront.
